Diabetics Signs Symptoms - Headaches

Headaches

There are many different headaches form mild to severe pain, the most common is the tensing of muscles in your neck and shoulders or migraine headaches.


Different Types of headaches are

  • Tension headaches
  • Low Blood Sugar headaches
  • Migraine
  • Sinus Headaches
  • Cluster Headaches
  • Allergies Headaches
  • Food Intolerance headaches

Low Blood Sugar Headaches

This state normally happens when the blood sugar are low. After eating a lot of high carbohydrate or sugary foods this headache develops.

To prevent this happening

  • Eat slow releasing carbohydrate foods (low GI) avoid pastries and sugar foods.
  • Eat proteins at dinnertime

Allergy or Sinus headaches

These headaches are difficult to control because they are directly related to the environmental factor like pollution and polemist in the air. The sinuses are congested or a viral infection occurred

Symptoms

The area around the eyes is tender and the cheeks or forehead has pressure or pain

Treatment

Depending weather it is a infection or allergy Pain killers or allergy medication can be used. Nasal vasoconstrictors is also used when it is a infection allergy

Food Intolerance headaches

Some people have an allergy or intolerance to specific types (wheat, lactose e.g.) of food or drink.

Symptoms are the same as sinus headaches.

Treatment:

The best is to keep a food diary and work on a process of elimination. If the culprit (food) has been identified the best would be to avoid it all together.

Common foods to start your list with are, alcohol, sugar, spices, eggs, mushrooms, nuts, wheat and lactose.

Cluster headaches

These headaches happen in group and clusters.

Symptoms are watery eyes, nasal congestion and drooping eyelids. Pain is on side of head, behind eyes or near temples. These headaches occurs for a short period of time and in group/clusters.

Treatments

This type of headaches is normally stress induced. Regular exercise, yoga and meditation have proven to be very effective.

Tension headaches

This is the most common headache and it is caused by muscle tension in the neck or shoulders. The result is pressure or tightness in the head. Over the counter medicine will normally give relieve.

Migraine

This is the most severe headache and can sometimes last for a few days. Migraines are hereditary and run in the family. Migraines are not related to brain tumors or strokes.


Signs and Symptoms

  • Pounding /throbbing pain
  • Sound and light sensitivity
  • Vomiting
  • Appetite loss
  • Paleness

Causes

· Foods. Chocolates, wine/alcohol, e.g.

· Caffeine

· Changing meal times

· Sleep routine changes

· Stress

· Menstruation
